DARTS: Depository Access to Reports, Technical & Scientific
provide depository libraries with access to NTIS (National Technical Information Service) reports
compare bibliographic records to identify fugitive documents
- 240,000 reports
- number of reports available online will grow as NTIS digitizes more of them
- full text online
- pdf or tiff wrapped files
- reports date from 1964-2000
- wide variety of subjects (science & technical)
Beta Test
- new unique content for FLDP
- 30 library volunteers (February 2007)
- tested usability and navigation
- suggestions are being phased-in
DARTS
- since 2/28/2007, available to all depository libraries
- validation form required
- 245 registered users as of 04.11.2007
- NTIS cannot lose revenue with this pilot
Policies
- reference service providers can have username/password
- patrons cannot have login access
- DARTS cannot be used to supply ILL requests (unless requested by another depository library)
- do not download and distribute reports outside of library users
- up to 30 simultaneous users
- can use document delivery service to primary clientele
- password may be shared with branch libraries
