UNT-L CMS Training
Rights
Contents Tab
- lots of folders
- also some objects (anything that isn't a folder)
- contents tab shows what is in any particular folder
- can order items up and down (how they appear in lists)
- published, unpublished, state, etc.
- published and locked are the only states viewable to the public
- batch publish with "change state"
- this works, even though you get an error message each time afterward
Edit Tab
- what you're looking at (folder, object, etc.) affects what you see in the "edit" tab
- where you make changes
Properties Tab
- metadata, essentially
- dates, creator, keywords, etc. (information about the object)
- changes according to the object or folder type
Other Options
- "add" option (entry page, link, folder, etc.)
- remember to first make the title a short, usable URL
- you can edit it to a longer one later
- normal word-processing edit options in the "body" area
- fonts and colors are specified by the system
- "related items" for connecting to similar pages on the UNT-L website
- in order to add an image into the "body" area, it already must be uploaded to the CMS (exist in the database)
- you can link to something that is not published (it's allowed by the system), but those outside the university will get an error message
- strongly recommend that tables are only used for numeric, tabular data, not for formatting
- anchors: jump to specific places on the webpage
- it uses the styles to make the jumps (doesn't use HTML like the anchors in Dreamweaver, etc.)
- jump to heading, subheading, etc.
- "manage anchors" lets you choose specific anchors to jump to (instead of all that use that style)
Display
- defaults are various folder views: shows all items in that folder, with various formatting options
- for other display options for folders, choose "select a content item as default view"
